Thank G-d Al-mighty, my wife and I merited to marry off our eldest daughter last Wednesday night. Not only are there focused preparations in the weeks before the wedding, but the Torah requires seven days of celebration after the wedding. Those seven days just ended today.
We bless the young couple with every blessing particularly in bringing more good Jews and good human beings into the world. Amen!
Wedding preparation and and the ongoing celebration hopefully explain my quiet over the past two weeks.
But there is something else that keeps me quiet and I think that you can help me.
I often write an article and there are one or two quotes that I can’t find. I’ll remember reading an article and what was said and who said it but I can’t find the original quote.
And then what happens is the draft will sit on my computer for a year or 18 months, or longer.
The truth is it would be better to have the original quote and the article and you the reader deserve the original quote. But, since I have classes that I teach and other work articulating the Torah’s message, I don’t end off finding the quote and the article remains unpublished.
The price is that something important remains in my head and does not get out.
So here’s the idea for a solution: community sourced journalism and writing. Meaning to say, I’ll write as completely as I can and flag a blank I can’t complete and ask you, the reader, to complete it. Perhaps you will remember the source yourself or maybe you will have the time do some more detailed research and unearth it.
And, I would be very grateful if you post what you find in the comments and/or email me and I’ll be happy to acknowledge you in the revised article (unless you specifically request not to be publicly acknowledged.)
This way I can let go of perfection and be more productive. And, together, we can be more productive and reach perfection!
Let me know what you think in the comments below, or by email, or in the chat on the Substack app.
Thank you in advance!
And thank you for being a subscriber.
That sounds like a great partnership!
I would be happy to do this for you. I'm a great researcher. Michelle Priel
