Highlights from this week's learning and events; An eternal message from the Torah about how accessible Liberty from spiritual slavery leads us to physical health

Did you know that the Torah has an eternal Divine Message that applies to every single human being? Authentic Torah learning grounds us in reality, both what we can observe and what is beyond our observation, grasp and even understanding, and leads to practical positive action. Positive for us and positive for those around us. Torah reveals our Divine Innate Spiritual Compass and brings our Spiritual Backbone to the forefront of life.

In each Week’s Roundup, you will find a special topic, links to this week’s learning, the Torah perspective on current events, upcoming learning and action suggestions. This week we embrace spiritual and physical health. Learn, take hope and take action, and share.

G-d willing you had the best Passover yet and you are going out of the limitations of Egypt every day. Egyptian thinking is about being constrained by what we can perceive in the natural world and becoming slaves to the natural order within us and around us.

Passover breaks us out of that and leads us into the seven week counting of Sefiras HaOmer, which each one of the shining aspects of our character, or perhaps more accurately in aspects that needs some work to shine as they should, take center stage in our focus so we can bring our character traits in line with our Divine soul.

Breaking out of spiritual slavery leads to freedom from physical slavery and to physical health. Tonight is the first day of the month of Iyar, the letters of which spell out "I am the L-rd G-d Al-mighty Your Healer."

In our weekly Torah learning of Rabbi Yonoson Steif’s Mitzvos Hashem, the Divine Commands that apply to every human being, we have been learning how the Caananites, like we all can, were worried about the future, and so sought out clever ways through divination and sorcery to figure out the future. G-d Al-mighty explicitly forbids Jews and non-Jews from engaging in these practices.

In the following video conversation, Rabbi Chyrek and I discuss the ways in which modern health care resembles the Canaanite cults through the cult of experts, rituals of testing and diagnosis, seeking certainty through treatment rituals and how this takes a person into spiritual slavery and therefore away from real health. All this is distasteful to G-d Al-mighty. Even so called natural health is leading people away from a relationship with G-d Al-mighty into a ritualistic fear based relationships with physical tests and supplements looked to as the source of well-being.
